Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12/01/21

Your privacy is critically important, we have a few fundamental principles in this respect.

  1. We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it. (We can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
  2. We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop my services, or protect my rights.
  3. We don’t store personal information on my servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of my services.
  4. In our blogging products, we aim to make it as simple as possible for you to control what’s visible to the public, seen by search engines, kept private, and permanently deleted.

Below is our privacy policy which incorporates these goals: (Note, this privacy policy available under a Creative Commons Sharealike license, which means you’re more than welcome to repurpose it for your own use, just make sure to replace references to us with ones to you, and if you want we’d appreciate a link to sumarameers.com somewhere on your site.)

We (S.R. Meers & R.D. George) operate sumarameers.com and reecegeorge.com. It is our policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating this website.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, we collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how our visitors use our websites. From time to time, we may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of our websites. We also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on blogs. We only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to our websites choose to interact with us in ways that require us to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for a blog to provide a username and email address. Those who engage in transactions with us – by purchasing a subscription, for example – are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, we collect such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with us. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website activities.

Aggregated Statistics

We may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to our websites. For instance, we may monitor the most popular pages on the sumarameers.com site. We may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, we do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

We disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to employees, contractors and affiliated organisations that (1) need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf or to provide services available at our website, and (2) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organisations may be located outside of your home country; by using our website, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. We will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to our employees, contractors and affiliated organisations, as described above, we disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our property or rights, third parties or the public at large. If you have supplied your email address, we may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with our services. We primarily use our website to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help me clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorised access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
