A good audiobook is magic. Whether it’s a fascinating true story, an idea that changes the way you think, or a childhood adventure that stays with you for years, the right narration can make all the difference.
I’m Sumara Meers, an Australian voice actor, audiobook narrator and lifelong book lover. I know how much work goes into writing a book, and I love the challenge of bringing those words to life.
From thought-provoking non-fiction to imaginative children’s stories and character-rich fiction, I bring warmth, versatility and a genuine love of storytelling to every recording.
Non-fiction that connects
A great non-fiction audiobook should feel like an engaging conversation with someone who really knows their subject and loves their work.
I’ve narrated books exploring personal development, psychology, career growth, resilience and extraordinary real-life experiences.
My recent titles include Life Without Limits, Beyond Difficult, More Impact, More Easily and The Bold Move.
Whether your book is sharing expertise, exploring big ideas or telling a deeply personal story, my approach is to make the material accessible, engaging and human, while staying true to the author’s voice.
Stories for little ears (and big imaginations)
Children’s books are an absolute joy to narrate. For years I practiced on my own children, who definitely appreciated the fun accents I used in Scuffy The Tugboat.
Nothing like bringing a little magic to the storytelling. From brave adventurers and mischievous creatures to gentle, heartfelt tales, every story has its own world to discover.
My children’s audiobook credits include My Father’s Dragon, The Prince and the Dragon and The Story of Little Boy Blue. I do love a good fairytale character voice.
“You are amazing – you sound like sixteen different people!”

Fiction Audiobooks
Some stories need a whole cast of distinctive voices. Others call for a more subtle approach, letting the writing and emotion do the heavy lifting.
I enjoy finding the rhythm of a story, getting to know its characters and making the listening experience feel natural and immersive.
“The standard of Sumara’s work has been first-class in terms of professionalism, enthusiasm and overall commitment to excellence. She delivered well with the deadline and on budget. She also has Producer ability – orchestrating supporting actors effectively. Technical recording mastery is another asset in Sumara’s toolkit.”
Geoffrey Chapman, author
Here’s another side of my audiobook work: Nightfall at Navel Crater, a sci-fi short story that showcases character performance and storytelling.
Audiobook production options
I record from my professional home studio in Australia, working with independent authors, publishers and audiobook producers around the world.
Already have a production team? I can supply clean, punch-and-roll recordings, ready for your editor to work their magic. Prefer a complete audiobook? I can handle the editing and mastering too, delivering finished audio files ready for distribution.
I take care with the details, from pronunciation and character consistency to clear communication throughout the recording process. We’ll discuss the production requirements, timeline and deliverables before getting started, so everyone knows what to expect.
I generally work on a per-finished-hour basis, but I’m also open to discussing royalty-share or hybrid arrangements for suitable projects.
Whether you’ve got a finished manuscript or you’re still exploring your options, I’m happy to talk through what would work best for your book.
